Missive is a team inbox app that lets people work on email together without forwarding threads. Team members can chat about an email in the same window, write replies together, assign conversations and turn them into tasks. It also connects SMS, WhatsApp and social messages, so one app covers most customer and partner communication.
You connect shared and personal accounts. Personal email stays private unless you choose to share a conversation. On any thread, teammates can leave internal comments, @mention each other or draft a reply together in real time. Conversations can be assigned, snoozed or turned into tasks with due dates. On Productive, rules automate sorting and assignment, and integrations connect tools such as CRMs.
Starter suits very small teams that mostly need shared inboxes and internal chat. Most teams end up on Productive, because rules, integrations and analytics are what save time once volume grows. Business is mainly for companies that need SSO and IP restrictions.
Agree on a few habits early: assign every conversation you’re working on, use internal comments instead of forwarding, and close conversations when they’re done so the shared inbox stays clean. Create shared labels for the main request types and a rule or two for obvious routing. These basics prevent the most common problem in shared inboxes, which is two people replying to the same message.
Missive suits teams that live in email and want collaboration without moving to a ticketing tool. Google Workspace teams that want to stay inside Gmail should compare Gmelius and Drag, and teams that need formal ticketing can look at HelpDesk.
