Decision checklist
Brevo provides campaign creation, transactional messaging and marketing automation, with additional sales and messaging options. This profile focuses on its email marketing plans. Its Free contact-storage limit is much larger than its daily sending capacity, while early paid tiers link send volume to smaller stored-contact limits. A large address book therefore does not imply that the entry plan can send to it economically.
Count the complete stored contact database and estimate broadcasts, automated follow-ups and transactional sends separately. Prepare a realistic busy-day schedule rather than averaging the month. Check the tier’s contact limit before importing the list, then review authentication, consent records and suppression handling. If branding or automation is required, compare included features with separately billed add-ons. This is a suggested evaluation process, not a deliverability test or a promise of inbox placement.
On early paid tiers, the number of contacts you store matters as much as how many emails you send. Before upgrading from Free, remove bounced, unsubscribed and long-inactive contacts, and stop importing old lists you don’t email. A cleaner list keeps you on a lower tier and improves deliverability, because inbox providers notice when large shares of mail go unopened.
Many small businesses send newsletters and order or password emails from the same account. Set up a verified sending domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC first, and consider a separate subdomain for marketing so a poorly performing campaign doesn’t hurt delivery of receipts. Check which plan’s send volume covers both streams on your busiest day.
Brevo email marketing pricing works best when the buyer understands daily Free capacity and paid contact caps. An ecommerce welcome sequence and a weekly newsletter may fit different automation and reporting requirements.
Starting price: Free plan; Starter from US$9/month for 5,000 sends and up to 500 stored contacts. Model: Email-volume tiers with associated contact caps; add-ons, SMS and other message credits separate.
Worked exampleA business with 450 stored contacts sending four monthly newsletters generates 1,800 sends. With no other sends or add-ons, it fits the entry Starter tier at US$9/month, or US$108 across twelve monthly payments before tax. If it also removes Starter branding, the US$9 monthly add-on raises that to US$18/month, matching the published Standard entry price; compare the included Standard features before buying the add-on.

Current official help uses Starter, Standard, Professional and Enterprise; do not substitute an older Business label. Starter and Standard entry tiers cap contacts at 500, rising with email-volume tier. Reaching the cap can trigger an automatic paid upgrade. Extra messaging, sales features and seats may cost separately. Annual credits still renew monthly; unused credits expire.

| Best for | Small businesses coordinating email campaigns and transactional messages with predictable send volume and a maintained contact database | SaaS teams sending password resets, receipts and application notifications through an API | Independent writers, technical newsletters and small publishers sending regular editorial updates without a complex sales stack | Individuals, teachers, recruiters and small teams sending personalised emails to warm lists from Gmail |
| Starting price | Free plan; Starter from US$9/month for 5,000 sends and up to 500 stored contacts | $20/month for Pro; Free available | Free basic newsletter for first 100 subscribers; larger-list base price requires current calculator or vendor confirmation | Free; paid from $5.99 per user/month (Starter) |
| Free plan / trial | Permanent Free: 300 emails/day, up to 100,000 stored contacts and one user; no card required | 3,000 transactional emails/month, capped at 100/day, three domains | Basic newsletter free for first 100 subscribers; paid optional features still cost separately | Free Hobby plan: 500 emails a month, 50 a day |
| Biggest limitation | Early paid tiers can auto-upgrade when stored contacts exceed their cap even if email volume is low; Free also has a daily rather than monthly send ceiling. | Free is capped at 100 emails/day, so short traffic spikes can exceed the limit even below the monthly quota. | The subscriber allowance does not make add-ons free: segmentation, analytics, RSS, custom archive domains and team features each affect the budget. | Daily and monthly sending caps, plus Gmail's own limits, bound campaign size |
Prices are taken from each vendor's own pricing page on the dates shown. Taxes and add-ons may apply; confirm before you buy.
The entry tier stores up to 500 contacts. Stored contacts can force a higher tier even when send volume is below 5,000.
No. Its 300-send daily allowance resets without rollover. A monthly average does not remove the busy-day constraint.
The help centre says only 300 receive it that day. Remaining recipients require requeueing after the daily allowance resets, subject to other sends.
No. The official add-on page lists logo removal at US$9/month on Starter. Standard, Professional and Enterprise do not display that logo.
Brevo describes warnings followed by automatic upgrade to the next tier when the limit is reached or exceeded. Confirm the account behavior before a large import.
Additional Standard marketing seats are an add-on, up to three. Do not assume all three seats are included in the starting amount.
