Service business management software runs a trade or home service business from first call to paid invoice: booking, quotes, scheduling, dispatch, a mobile app for technicians, invoicing and payments. For most small teams, Jobber (from $29 a month after its first-year discount) and Housecall Pro (from $59 a month on annual billing) cover everything without a sales call. ServiceM8 is the cheapest for a busy small team because it charges by jobs, not users. Zoho FSM is the best fit for Indian businesses, with a free plan for up to 20 users and rupee billing. ServiceTitan is built for larger HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies, and third-party estimates put it at about $245 to $500 per technician a month.
Key Takeaways
What Counts as Service Business Management Software
This guide covers field and home service businesses: plumbers, electricians, HVAC, cleaning, landscaping, pest control, appliance repair and similar trades where staff travel to the customer. Agencies and consultancies also call themselves service businesses, but they need project management and time billing instead, which these tools aren’t built for.

What a Five-Person Team Really Pays
Take one office manager and four technicians handling about 120 jobs a month. Monthly cost on the plan that fits:
| Software | Plan | Monthly cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| ServiceM8 | Growing (150 jobs) | $79 | Unlimited users, so adding staff costs nothing |
| Zoho FSM | Standard | From $30, plus appointments above the included volume | Up to 200 users; check the appointment slider for 120 a month |
| Housecall Pro | Essentials (5 users) | $149 annual, $189 monthly | Includes GPS tracking and QuickBooks sync |
| Jobber | Connect (5 users) | $105 annual for year one, then $149; $199 monthly | QuickBooks sync and automated follow-ups |
| Tradify | Pro (5 users) | $255 | Timesheets and progress invoicing |
| Zuper | Starter (5 users) | $325 | Third-party price |
| ServiceTitan | Per technician (4 technicians) | About $980 to $2,000, plus implementation | Competitor estimate; implementation quoted at $5,000 to $50,000+ |
The cheapest option depends on how your team grows. Adding a technician costs nothing extra on ServiceM8 until you exceed the job limit, $29 to $35 a month on Jobber and Housecall Pro, and $51 a month on Tradify Pro.
Best Service Business Management Software
Jobber: Best All-Round Pick for Small Home Service Teams
Jobber covers online booking, quotes, scheduling, invoicing, payments and a client hub on every plan, and adds automated reminders, QuickBooks Online sync and time tracking from Connect. Grow adds job costing, two-way SMS, upsell line items and custom automations, and Plus adds crew scheduling, profit alerts, an AI receptionist and dedicated onboarding. Pricing is clear but layered: annual plans carry a first-year discount for new customers who sign up before 30 October 2026, then rise. Connect for 5 users, for example, is $105 a month in year one and $149 after that. Extra users cost $29 a month. The 14-day trial gives full access to Grow without a card.
Housecall Pro: Best for Payments and Consumer Financing
Housecall Pro is used by more than 200,000 home service professionals, according to the company. Basic ($59 a month on annual billing) includes online booking, estimates, scheduling, dispatch, payments, consumer financing, a price book and job costing. Essentials ($149 annual) raises it to 5 users and adds routes, flat-rate pricing, GPS tracking, commissions and QuickBooks sync. Max ($299 annual, 8 users) adds sales proposals, service plans, route optimisation and API access. Card processing starts at 2.59% and bank payments at 1%, so on $30,000 a month of card payments the processing fee alone is about $777. Compare that with your current payment provider before switching.
ServiceM8: Best Value for Busy Small Teams
ServiceM8 charges by jobs per month, not by user. Free covers one user and 30 jobs, Starter is $29 for 50 jobs, Growing $79 for 150, Premium $149 for 500 and Premium Plus $349 for 1,500 or more, with unlimited users on every paid plan. That makes it unusually cheap for a crew of five or ten doing many short jobs, and texting is free on paid plans. ServiceM8 runs regional sites for Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the US, so check that its payment and accounting integrations work in your country.
Tradify: Best for Quoting and Job Costing
Tradify is built for tradespeople who price jobs carefully: markups, progress invoicing, bill tracking, timesheets and subcontractor scheduling are on Pro ($51 per user a month). Plus ($61) adds AI bill capture, purchase orders, bulk invoicing and service reminders. Per-user pricing is simple for small teams but adds up faster than ServiceM8 or Jobber as you hire. It syncs with Xero and QuickBooks. Our Tradify profile has more detail.
Zoho FSM: Best for Indian Service Businesses
Zoho FSM is the strongest option for Indian companies. It bills in rupees, prices by appointments instead of users, and its free plan allows up to 20 users and 30 appointments and 30 invoices a month. Paid editions start at $30 a month ($300 a year) for Standard, $45 for Professional and $55 for Premium, with additional appointments priced by volume. You get work orders, dispatch, a technician app, service reports, invoicing, maintenance plans and WhatsApp messaging. If you already use Zoho Books for GST invoices or Zoho CRM, the connections save a lot of double entry. To track field staff attendance as well, see our guide to attendance software for field employees.
Workiz: Best for On-Demand Trades
Workiz targets locksmiths, garage door, junk removal and appliance repair businesses, where jobs come in by phone and need dispatching fast. All plans include unlimited jobs, estimates, invoices and clients, plus scheduling, automations and QuickBooks sync. Pro adds lead routing and scheduling help, and Ultimate adds service plans, inventory, franchise management and an API. Prices are only given on request, and phone, answering and marketing tools are paid add-ons. The trial is 7 days.
Zuper: Best for Customisable Workflows at Mid-Size
Zuper suits companies with 10 to 100 technicians that need custom workflows, asset tracking and integrations. It’s priced per user, at $65 for Starter, $85 for Core and $105 for Premium a month, according to Toolradar. Expect a demo and onboarding rather than a self-serve trial.
ServiceTitan: Best for Large HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Companies
ServiceTitan is the most complete platform here, with call booking, dispatch, pricebook, marketing attribution, payroll, inventory and reporting built for trades companies running many trucks. It doesn’t publish prices. Fieldproxy, a competitor, estimates $245 to $500 per technician a month, implementation from $5,000 to over $50,000 and a rollout of two to twelve months, on annual contracts. There’s no free trial. For a business under ten technicians, the cost and setup time are hard to justify.
