To track 1,000 keywords daily, you’ll pay about $53 to $65 a month with Nightwatch’s higher plans or SE Ranking, around $70 with SerpRobot, $112 with AccuRanker (whose cheapest plan now starts at 2,000 keywords for $224), and $167 to $280 with Semrush, depending on plan. Ahrefs updates rankings weekly on every plan, and Mangools does the same below its Agency tier.
Check update frequency before price, because a cheap weekly tracker won’t catch a drop until days later. Google Search Console is still free and shows the queries you already appear for, but it gives average positions and doesn’t track competitors.
Key Takeaways
- Cost per keyword varies a lot. In our comparison, it ranges from about $53 per 1,000 daily keywords (Nightwatch Agency) to $280 (Semrush Pro).
- Weekly updates make low prices look better than they are. Ahrefs (all plans), Mangools (below Agency) and Advanced Web Ranking’s default setting update weekly. AWR uses seven times more keyword units for daily tracking.
- AccuRanker raised its entry point. The Professional plan is $224 a month for at least 2,000 daily keywords. The old 1,000-keyword tier isn’t on its pricing page anymore.
- SE Ranking’s lower plans are gone. Core is $129 a month, or $103.20 billed annually, for 2,000 daily keywords and 100 AI prompts.
- AI search tracking is now part of rank tracking. Nightwatch includes AI prompts on every plan, SE Ranking and Semrush charge extra for it, and Ahrefs sells it as Brand Radar.
- Local rankings need a grid, not one position. Local Falcon charges per map point, so a 7×7 scan uses 49 credits.

What Tracking 1,000 Daily Keywords Really Costs
This is the cost of each plan divided by its keyword allowance, at monthly billing. It shows what you pay for tracking, not for the rest of the suite.
| Tool and plan | Monthly price | Keywords | Cost per 1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nightwatch Agency | €399 | 7,500 daily | €53 |
| SE Ranking Growth | $279 | 5,000 daily | $56 |
| Nightwatch Professional | €159 | 2,500 daily | €64 |
| SE Ranking Core | $129 | 2,000 daily | $65 |
| SerpRobot (14 bots) | $70 | 1,050 daily | $67 |
| AccuRanker Expert | $764 | 10,000 daily | $76 |
| Semrush Business | $499.95 | 5,000 daily | $100 |
| AccuRanker Professional | $224 | 2,000 daily | $112 |
| Advanced Web Ranking Pro | $139 | 1,000 daily (7,000 weekly) | $139 daily, $20 weekly |
| Semrush Guru | $249.95 | 1,500 daily | $167 |
| Ahrefs Lite | $129 | 750 weekly | $172 (weekly) |
| Semrush Pro | $139.95 | 500 daily | $280 |
| Mangools Basic | $61 | 200 weekly | $305 (weekly) |
If you only check rankings once a week, AWR on weekly updates is by far the cheapest at $20 per 1,000 keywords. If you need to see Monday’s drop on Monday, look at the top half of the table.
Best Dedicated Rank Tracker Tools
SE Ranking: Best Value for Daily Tracking
SE Ranking’s 2026 plans are simpler and more expensive at the low end. Core costs $129 a month ($103.20 billed annually) for 10 projects, 2,000 daily keywords and 100 daily AI prompts. Growth, at $279, raises that to 5,000 keywords, 250 prompts and three manager seats. You also get a site audit, backlink data and keyword research, so for a small in-house team it can replace a full SEO suite. The AI Search add-on ($89 a month for 200 prompts) tracks AI Overviews, AI Mode and ChatGPT. The 14-day trial includes 750 keywords and doesn’t need a card.
Nightwatch: Best for Agencies Tracking Many Sites
Nightwatch prices in euros and its value improves as you scale. Starter is €79 for 500 daily keywords and five sites, Professional €159 for 2,500 and 25 sites, and Agency €399 for 7,500 and 100 sites. Every plan includes AI tracking (50, 150 and 500 prompts a month respectively), so an agency can report Google rankings and ChatGPT mentions in one place without another subscription. Annual billing gives two months free.
AccuRanker: Best for Large Keyword Sets
AccuRanker is a pure rank tracker known for speed and accuracy, and it now sells only in larger blocks. Professional costs $224 a month for 2,000, 3,000 or 5,000 keywords, all updated daily, with Search Console and Analytics integrations. Expert ($764 for 10,000 or more) adds dynamic tagging, AI-estimated CTR and BigQuery-ready data. Annual billing saves 10%. Its AI tracking product, AccuLLM, covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and AI Mode, but it’s sold by demo with no public price. If you track fewer than 2,000 keywords, you’ll pay for capacity you don’t use.
Advanced Web Ranking: Best for Choosing Your Own Update Schedule
AWR counts keyword units instead of keywords. One unit is one keyword checked weekly on one search engine and device, five pages deep. Pro, at $139, gives 7,000 units, which is 7,000 keywords weekly, 1,000 daily, or a mix of the two. You could track your 100 money keywords daily and 6,300 long-tail terms weekly, which no other tool here lets you split as cheaply. Tracking desktop and mobile, or ten pages deep, doubles the units. Pro includes AI visibility tracking and a seven-day trial.
Wincher: Simple Daily Tracking for Small Teams
Wincher focuses on daily rankings and simple reports. According to its help centre, plans range from €29 to €449 a month depending on keyword count. The smallest plan covers 500 keywords and 10 websites, and higher plans add on-demand refreshes and share of voice. Local rank tracking is billed separately at €10 per 500 extra credits.
SerpRobot and SEO PowerSuite: The Budget Options
SerpRobot charges $4.99 a month per bot, and each bot checks 75 keywords a day. A freelancer with 150 keywords pays about $10. It has no keyword research or audits. SEO PowerSuite’s Rank Tracker is desktop software. Professional costs $179 a year with no keyword limit, but checks run from your own computer, so large lists are slow, and the free version doesn’t save projects or schedule checks.
Rank Tracking Inside SEO Suites
Semrush Position Tracking
Position Tracking updates daily for 60 days, then keeps weekly data for 140 weeks. It tracks devices down to postal code and flags SERP features, including AI Overviews. Pro includes 500 keywords for $139.95, Guru 1,500 for $249.95 and Business 5,000 for $499.95. A free account tracks 10 keywords for one site, which is enough to test it. To track your brand inside AI Mode and ChatGPT answers, you also need the AI Visibility Toolkit or Semrush One.
Ahrefs Rank Tracker
Ahrefs tracks 750 keywords on Lite ($129), 2,000 on Standard ($249) and 5,000 on Advanced ($449). Updates are weekly on all of them, and the pricing page doesn’t list a daily add-on. That’s fine for content sites watching trends, but too slow for an e-commerce team that needs to catch a ranking drop on a category page the same day. AI tracking is separate: Brand Radar AI starts at $199 a month, or you can buy custom prompt packages from $50 for 2,500 checks.
Mangools SERPWatcher and Moz Pro
Mangools raised prices in July 2026. Basic is now $61 a month for 200 tracked keywords, Premium $81 for 700 and Agency $141 for 1,500, according to CostBench. Updates are weekly except on Agency. It’s good for a blogger who also needs KWFinder for keyword research, but expensive as a tracker alone. Moz Pro Starter ($39) tracks 50 keywords, and Medium ($143) tracks 1,500, according to Toolradar. Choose it if your team already uses Moz data.
For Local SEO: Local Falcon
A local business doesn’t have one Google Maps ranking. It ranks differently at every street corner, so a single position number can mislead. Local Falcon scans a grid of points around your business and shows the rank at each one. One credit equals one point, so a 7×7 grid uses 49 credits. Starter ($24.99 a month) includes 7,500 credits, enough for about 150 7×7 scans. Monthly credits expire, and new accounts get 100 free credits.
The Free Option: Google Search Console
Search Console shows every query you received impressions for, with clicks, CTR and average position, at no cost. It’s the most reliable source for your own site because it comes from Google. It has three limits for rank tracking. Positions are averages, so a page at #3 on mobile and #15 on desktop shows as roughly #9. It doesn’t show competitors. And it only shows queries that already bring you impressions. Many SEOs use Search Console to find keywords worth tracking and a paid tracker to watch the ones that matter.
Daily or Weekly Updates: When It Matters
| Situation | Update frequency you need |
|---|---|
| E-commerce category pages, product launches, migrations | Daily |
| Agency client reporting | Daily for the main keywords, weekly for the rest |
| Content site watching gradual trends | Weekly is enough |
| Checking whether a Google core update hit you | Daily during the rollout |
A weekly tracker that checks on Wednesday won’t show a Thursday drop until the following week. During a site migration, that delay is long enough to cost real revenue.
Tracking AI Overviews and ChatGPT
Most rank trackers now note whether a keyword shows an AI Overview. Fewer show whether your page is cited in it, and fewer still track your brand in ChatGPT or Perplexity answers. Among the tools here, Nightwatch includes AI prompts on every plan, SE Ranking includes 100 on Core and sells more as an add-on, AWR includes AI visibility on Pro, and Semrush and Ahrefs charge separately. For dedicated tools such as Peec AI and Otterly, see our comparison of AI visibility tools.
Which Rank Tracker Fits
| You are | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A small business with 100 to 300 keywords | SerpRobot or Semrush’s free tier, then SE Ranking Core | Pay little until you need daily data plus an audit |
| An in-house SEO with 2,000 keywords | SE Ranking Core | Daily tracking, AI prompts and a suite for $129 |
| An agency with 30 or more client sites | Nightwatch Professional or Agency | Lowest daily cost per keyword, AI tracking included |
| An enterprise team with 10,000+ keywords | AccuRanker Expert or AWR Enterprise | Speed, API and BigQuery exports |
| A content site checking trends | Ahrefs (if you already pay for it) or AWR on weekly updates | Weekly data is enough, and AWR is $20 per 1,000 |
| A local business | Local Falcon plus Search Console | Grid rankings show what one position number hides |
How We Compared These Tools
We compared each tool’s published pricing and plan limits on 21 October 2026, used independent price trackers where vendors don’t publish amounts (Mangools, Moz), and calculated the cost per 1,000 keywords at monthly billing. Accuracy claims weren’t tested independently. Most tools offer a 7 to 14-day trial, so run the same 50 keywords in two trackers and compare them against a manual incognito search before committing.
