Decision checklist

  • Buying consideration: Prices were checked on the official Make pricing page on 2026-10-08 with 10,000 credits selected and monthly billing. The page advertises savings of 15% or more for annual payment. Most non-AI app operations consume one credit, but AI and advanced features can use dynamic credits. Separate AI-provider charges may apply when using a custom provider connection.
  • Operational fit: Vendor-hosted cloud platform on AWS infrastructure in EU or North America regions; support: Free includes 90-day expert access to get started. Core and Pro list technical support, Teams lists high-priority guidance, and Enterprise lists 24/7 top-priority assistance..
  • Evidence context: Verified on vendor site, with facts checked 8 Oct 2026.

Model the scenario before estimating Make pricing

Make is a visual automation platform where modules form a scenario. A trigger retrieves data, later modules transform or route it, and actions update connected systems. Its canvas makes the path visible, which is useful when a workflow branches, aggregates records or moves data through several applications. The same visibility also reveals why cost forecasting needs more than a count of business events.

Make.com now bills in credits. For most non-AI apps, one operation equals one credit. A module can run once for every bundle it processes, so a trigger that returns ten contacts can cause each downstream module to run ten times. Make’s own example shows a form trigger plus three downstream modules processing ten responses using 31 operations. Some AI and advanced features use dynamic credits based on tokens, file size, page count or run time, so those steps require a separate usage estimate.

Select a plan by control requirements as well as credits

The Free plan includes 1,000 credits per month, two active scenarios, a 15-minute minimum scheduled interval, a 5-minute execution limit and 512 MB of data transfer. It is suitable for learning the Make automation model and proving a low-volume workflow, but those operational limits can be more decisive than the credit allowance.

At the displayed 10,000-credit level, monthly pricing is $12 for Core, $21 for Pro and $38 for Teams. Core removes the active-scenario cap, allows scheduling down to one minute, increases the execution limit to 40 minutes and provides Make API access. Pro adds priority execution, custom variables and full-text execution-log search.Enterprise uses custom pricing and adds enterprise integrations, 24/7 support, overage protection and advanced security features.

Build around bundles, branches and error paths

A reliable scenario starts by defining the record being processed. In an order workflow, one order may contain several line items. An iterator can split those items into bundles, which makes item-level processing possible but multiplies downstream module runs. An aggregator can combine bundles again when a destination needs one summary. Filters and routers should be placed early enough to prevent unnecessary processing while preserving the intended business rules.

Test the failure path as deliberately as the successful one. Decide whether a failed module should retry, stop the whole scenario, ignore one bundle or send the record to a review queue. A destination can sometimes complete an action even when the scenario receives an ambiguous response, so blind retries risk duplicates. Use stable external identifiers and idempotent update patterns where the connected application supports them.

Treat AI steps as a variable workload

Make connects to third-party AI providers and also offers built-in AI features. With a custom third-party connection, the official credit guide says Make charges credits for operations while the AI provider bills token usage separately. With Make’s AI Provider or automatic AI features, credit usage can include tokens and other consumption factors. A scenario that summarises long documents therefore cannot be budgeted as if every module always costs one credit.

Start with a representative sample of prompts, files and outputs, then inspect credit use in scenario history. Put limits around file size and prompt length, and route low-confidence or high-impact results to human review. The visual builder can orchestrate an AI workflow, but it does not remove model variability, provider costs or the need to protect sensitive data.

Choose the platform that matches ownership and governance

Zapier may suit teams that want a more guided automation experience and a familiar connector catalogue. n8n is a stronger alternative when self-hosting, source availability or developer-led control matters. Tallyfy is aimed more at structured human procedures and approvals than data integration. Make is strongest when a team benefits from seeing and debugging complex data flow on a visual canvas and is prepared to monitor credits, bundles and scenario ownership.

Starting price: $12/month. Model: Credit-based subscription.

Worked exampleA team running Core at the displayed 10,000-credit level on monthly billing would pay $12 × 12 = $144 for one year before tax and foreign-exchange costs. A scenario that uses one trigger check plus three actions for 2,000 single-record runs would use roughly 8,000 fixed-rate credits, leaving about 2,000 for retries, tests and other scenarios.

Make pros and cons

Strengths

  • Visual canvas exposes data flow and branching
  • Broad app catalogue
  • Useful transformation, routing and aggregation tools
  • Free plan supports genuine prototypes
  • Paid tiers separate individual, advanced and team controls clearly
  • Detailed operation and credit visibility supports optimisation

Limitations

  • Credits require workflow-level forecasting
  • Bundles can multiply downstream operations
  • Built-in AI usage may be dynamic
  • Free scheduling is limited to 15-minute intervals
  • Team roles require Teams
  • Self-hosting is not offered
Biggest limitation: Credit use can multiply as bundles pass through modules, and some AI or advanced features consume variable credits, making costs harder to predict from event volume alone.

Make FAQs

What is the difference between a Make operation and a credit?

An operation records a module run and its outcome. Credits are the billing unit. Most non-AI operations use one credit, while some AI and advanced features use more or vary with tokens, file size, pages or run time.

Why can one incoming record consume several Make credits?

Each downstream module normally runs for every bundle it processes. One record passing through a trigger and three action modules can therefore produce several operations and credits, and an iterator can create more bundles.

Is the Free plan sufficient for a production polling workflow?

It may fit a low-volume, non-urgent workflow, but it allows only two active scenarios, schedules no more frequently than every 15 minutes and limits an execution to five minutes. Test those constraints against the real process.

Which Make plan is needed for one-minute scheduling?

Core and higher plans list a one-minute minimum interval. Free has a 15-minute minimum, so near-real-time polling may require a paid plan or an instant webhook where the source supports one.

Does using OpenAI through Make include the OpenAI token bill?

With a custom AI-provider connection, Make says it charges credits for operations and the customer pays the provider directly for tokens. Automatic or Make-provided AI connections can use a different dynamic-credit calculation.

When do team roles become available in Make?

Teams adds teams and team roles plus shared scenario templates. If several builders need governed collaboration, compare Teams with Enterprise controls rather than assuming Core or Pro provides the same permission model.
