How We Research and Write

CompareCrest helps people choose software, AI tools and financial services. Those choices cost real money, so we think you should know exactly how our pages are made: where our information comes from, what we check, where AI tools help, and what we will never do.

What We Base Our Content On

Every article and software profile is built from evidence, not from a vendor’s marketing. We draw on five kinds of sources, and we’re clear about which one supports each claim.

SourceWhat it’s used forHow we describe it
Our own testingHow a product actually performs on a defined task“We tested…”, only when we have a written record of the test
Documented user experiencesRecurring patterns in reviews, forums and community discussions“Users commonly report…”, never as a guaranteed outcome
Independent evaluationsExpert reviews, benchmarks and published researchNamed or described as independent analysis
Official informationPricing, plans, features, limits and policies“According to [the vendor]…”, checked on the vendor’s own pages
Our editorial analysisTurning the evidence above into a recommendationFramed as our view, with the reasons given

Most of our pages combine several of these. A single review never becomes a fact about a product, and a feature listed on a vendor’s website is never treated as proof that it works well.

When We Say We Tested Something

We only write “we tested” or “in our testing” when we have actually run the product through a documented task. If a page is based on research rather than hands-on testing, it says so in a short “How We Evaluated” section near the top. We’d rather tell you a comparison is research-based than imply experience we don’t have.

How We Check Prices and Facts

Pricing changes constantly, so it’s the part of our work we check most carefully.

  • We read prices from each vendor’s official pricing page wherever one exists.
  • Where a vendor only quotes prices after a sales call, we say so, and any figure from a third-party source is labelled as reported or estimated.
  • We note Indian prices in rupees, including GST where it applies, alongside US dollar prices when both exist.
  • Software profiles show when prices were last checked, and we recheck them regularly.
  • When sources disagree, we use the vendor’s own page, or we tell you the figures conflict.
  • Claims about security incidents, lawsuits or controversies are published only with multiple sources, the company’s response and a dated current status.

How We Use AI Tools

We use AI tools in our work, and we think you should know how.

AI helps us research faster, organise large amounts of information, suggest structure, draft sections and check consistency across long comparisons. It’s useful for that work, but AI models can be confidently wrong. They predict likely text rather than look up facts, so nothing an AI tool writes is published on trust.

Before any page goes live, a person on our team:

  • checks every price, plan limit and feature claim against the vendor’s own pages or another reliable source;
  • removes anything that can’t be verified, or labels it clearly as unconfirmed;
  • makes sure no page claims testing, personal experience or user quotes that didn’t happen;
  • makes the final call on every ranking, verdict and recommendation;
  • reviews titles, meta descriptions and image alt text, not just the article itself.

We don’t publish pages generated in bulk without this review, and we don’t add pages just to target a keyword when we have nothing useful to say.

Images

Banners and comparison graphics on CompareCrest are designed by our team, using real product information. Screenshots come from the products themselves, with personal data removed. When an article shows images made with AI tools, such as example outputs in a prompt guide, we label them as AI-generated.

How We Make Money, and Why It Doesn’t Decide Rankings

CompareCrest earns affiliate commissions when you buy or sign up through some of our links. That pays for the research, and it costs you nothing extra. Commissions never decide rankings, verdicts or which products we include. Products without affiliate programmes appear on our lists when they’re the right fit, and we’ll tell you when a cheaper or free option is better. Our affiliate disclosure explains this in full.

We don’t accept payment to rank a product, write a favourable review or remove criticism.

Conflicts of Interest

Our team also works in digital marketing. When someone involved in a page has a professional relationship with a company featured in it, such as consulting work, we disclose that relationship on the page itself. Those companies don’t review or approve our content, and the comparison is held to the same evidence standards as every other page.

Keeping Content Up to Date

Software and AI tools change quickly. We update pages when prices change, features are added or removed, products are discontinued or acquired, or new evidence changes a recommendation. Discontinued products are removed from our lists or clearly marked. Every page ends with a note on when its information was current.

Guest Contributions

We accept contributions from practitioners with real experience in a category. Every contribution goes through the same fact-checking and editorial review as our own articles, and contributors must disclose any relationship with the products they write about. See contribute to CompareCrest for details.

Corrections

If you find something wrong, outdated or unclear, please tell us. We review every correction request, fix verified errors promptly, and update the page’s date when the change is significant. You can reach us through our contact page or at comparecrest@gmail.com.

What We Won’t Do

  • Claim we tested a product when we didn’t.
  • Invent user experiences, quotes, screenshots or results.
  • Publish prices we haven’t checked.
  • Let a commission decide a ranking.
  • Present one person’s experience as true for everyone.
  • Turn an old, resolved incident into a current warning without dating it.
